During our marriage, Alex and I picked out artwork and furniture together that we both liked. But after our split, I wanted to try to make the house feel like my own, as I begin this new chapter. First, I swapped out a few family photos, and reorganized the bookcases, and made sure we were fully stocked with Reese’s.
Then, as luck would have it, I stumbled across this When Harry Met Sally poster online. The 1989 rom com is firmly ranked among my top five movies (along with Goodfellas and The Father and Force Majeure and this cult classic), so I ordered one as a gift from myself to myself and ended up hanging it in my bathroom. The poster itself is enormous, and it feels good to see it and smile when I’m brushing my teeth or combing my hair. They feel like old pals.
Side note: For bathroom art in particular, Lucy Mahon’s prints (hot bath, warm bath) are cute, too, don’t you think?
Now, I’m curious to hear: Who do you live with? And what little things in your home are just for you? xoxo
P.S. Our Brooklyn house tour, and what are your top three movies of all time? Plus, do or don’t: framing photos of friends.
