The NBA All-Star Game is reportedly coming to San Francisco for the first time.

The Warriors and the NBA are “nearing plans” to bring the 2025 NBA All-Star Game and surrounding weekend festivities to Chase Center in San Francisco, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

If those plans are finalized, it would be the third time that the NBA brings its annual all-star contest to the Bay Area but technically the first time the game would be held within the San Francisco city limits. The 1967 game was held at the Cow Palace, which is one block south of SF in Daly City, and the 2000 game was held at Oakland Arena.

The news of the 2025 All-Star Game comes just days after reports that the Warriors could also be getting a WNBA expansion franchise. That team would likely start play in the summer of 2025, which could now also feature a massive NBA event in the Bay Area. A future WNBA All-Star Game could be a possibility, too, as the WNBA has scheduled ahead to only 2024 so far.

It also means that Chase Center, which opened in 2019 and was built privately by the Warriors at a cost of $1.4 billion, could host an NBA Finals game and an NBA All-Star Game in the first six years of its existence.

Levi’s is set to then play host to multiple FIFA World Cup matches in the summer of 2026. Levi’s could also be a host site for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup if the United States’ bid is chosen, and the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles have tentatively planned to use San Francisco Bay Area venues for soccer matches, though details have not been finalized yet.

Those could all be massive events to come. But now, the NBA looks like it will be in line to bring the first major event to the Bay Area.
