In India, the price for the Triumph Speed 400 starts from Rs 2.33 lakh and the price for the Scrambler 400X starts from Rs 2.63 lakh (both prices Ex-showroom). The bookings for the Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X are already underway, interested customers can book the bikes by visiting authorised Triumph dealerships in Japan. The deliveries are expected to begin from January 2024.
The Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X, both bikes were recently launched in India. Both bikes are based on same underpinnings and share multiple components and features. The Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X is being built at Bajaj’s plant in Pune and is the entry-level bikes from the brand. In terms of design, the Speed 400 borrows its styling cues from the Speed Twin 900. It gets circular LED headlamps with DRLs and it gets a golden upside-down fork.

The company describes the frame of the new Triumph Speed 400 as a hybrid spine/perimeter frame built from tubular steel. It gets a 13-litre of fuel tank and a big Triumph logo on top of it. The bike also gets LED indicators with LED taillamps. The Triumph Scrambler 400X is built on the same frame and suspension duties are taken care of by 43mm upside-down big-piston forks at the front and a gas-charged mono-shock unit at the rear with pre-load adjustment.
In terms of features, both bikes get all LED lighting (headlights, indicators, taillights), a semi-digital instrument cluster, ride-by-wire throttle, traction control, dual-channel ABS, torque-assist clutch, USB-C charging port and more. The Scrambler 400X bigger front wheel, a larger front disc brake, a wider handlebar, switchable ABS, a longer wheelbase, and longer travel suspension and gets offroad-specific elements such as handguards, a handlebar brace, and a longer front mudguard along with a protective grill for the headlight, radiator and sump.
Talking about the engine and gearbox, the Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X is powered by by a liquid-cooled, 398cc, single-cylinder petrol engine which puts out 40hp at 8,000rpm and 37.5Nm at 6,500rpm. The engine is brand new and is christened the TR-series. The engine comes paired with a 6-speed gearbox. Triumph claims that that the Speed 400 can do 0-60 kph in 2.8 seconds and 100 kmph is achieved in 7 seconds.
