Here are our top stories:

Maple Leafs’ Nylander catches TTC to get to work

We’re not sure why but there’s something reassuring, comforting even, about seeing a celebrity with cellulite or watching a super-fit athlete scarfing down McDonald’s.

In the same vein, seeing Toronto Maple Leafs star William Nylander catching the TTC to get to work like other lowly Torontonians was a breath of fresh air, Terry Koshan reported.

Like others on the subway, Willy was bundled up in a shiny, puffy coat, tuning out the world with a pair of earbuds in and sitting stonily as he waited for his stop. What’s even better is the man wearing the Leafs hat probably didn’t know who was seated next to him.

WARMINGTON: Canada is starting to look like 1930s Germany

In a scene that resembled Germany in the 1930s, and not Canada in November 2023, a swastika hung outside Ottawa’s Parliament buildings.

An Iranian-regime flag waved in the streets and a Jewish-owned business was defaced in Toronto.

As anti-Semitism becomes more rampant in Toronto, Canada, and around the world, our leaders need to be clear, Joe Warmington reported.

Jewish people are faced with such growing hate, something Torontonians and Canadians, really, everyone, should not be accepting.

If this hatred on Jews continues to go unchecked, we don’t even want to imagine where that could lead.

If watching the Blue Jays remove Jose Berrios in the final game of the team’s season was rough for fans, can you even imagine what it was like seeing it unfold from the dugout?

Starter and AL Cy Young Award finalist Kevin Gausman spoke about the move that sent the Jays packing — but while he and his teammates were shocked like the rest of us, he also admitted they knew it was coming, Rob Longley reported.

Perhaps just not at that moment.

We apologize, but this video has failed to load.

“You’re always going to be questioned about the moves you make that don’t work out, especially in the last game of the season,” Gausman said. “It was unfortunate, because that took away from how close our team was and the overall season we had.”

What he said. Sigh.

As Justin Trudeau continues to fall in the polls, things only worsened after the Toronto Star published a column citing data from an Abacus Data poll that appeared to indicate Trudeau’s Liberals won’t be making a comeback, Brian Lilley reported.

That’s even if Trudeau steps down and the Liberals pick another leader — but according to the poll, the current PM is the real problem and for Trudeau himself to make a comeback, he’s going to have to do a lot of explaining and convincing.

But for many, there’s no amount of lipstick, you know?

Whitby woman found dead in home remembered as a loving mother

A 33-year-old Whitby man is facing a second-degree murder charge following the discovery of a woman found dead in her home between Taunton and Rossland Rds. on Nov. 4, Kevin Connor reported.

A GoFundMe campaign has since been started for victim Latonya Anderson, a “vivacious” and “ambitious” mother to a 12-year-old boy.

“We’d like to show our support to Latonya’s family during this difficult time by helping them cover unexpected costs due to this sudden tragedy,” the GoFundMe page reads. “Anything you can do to help during this time of heartbreak is greatly appreciated.”
