Chick-fil-A is possibly expanding in Northern California after acquiring about an acre’s worth of land in San Jose. The parcel was previously owned by Target, according to the Mercury News.
Located at the corner of Silver Creek Road and East Capitol Expressway, the all-cash deal cost Chick-fil-A $4.5 million, the newspaper reported Wednesday. The land is currently a parking lot near the Target store at 3155 Silver Creek Rd.
The Atlanta-based business comes with some controversy, though, due to CEO Dan Cathy’s conservative Christian beliefs. In 2021, Cathy was linked to a massive charity that the Daily Beast described as “one of the biggest bankrollers of organizations currently on the front lines in the fight against the Equality Act,” which would codify anti-discrimination law for people on the basis of their sex, sexuality and gender identity.
