On Vijayadashami, after the immersion of the Durga idol, women, typically dressed in traditional red and white sarees, gather at the pandals (temporary shrines) or community centers. They offer their respects to the goddess and receive her blessings.

In a joyful and celebratory atmosphere, the women apply vermillion to each other. They apply sindoor on each other’s foreheads, cheeks, and sometimes even on the conch shells they carry, while chanting traditional songs and hymns. It’s a colorful and lively event, with laughter and happiness filling the air.

In addition to sindoor, women often offer sweets, betel leaves, and betel nuts during the ceremony. These offerings are meant to symbolize well-wishing and blessings for one another.
