Lotus to bring Emira to India in 2024: Everything you need to know about this sportscar

British Automaker Lotus Cars officially entered the Indian market by launching the Lotus Eletre electric SUV. Along with the launch, the company confirmed that it will bring the Lotus Emirasports car to the Indian market in 2024. Lotus Cars is owned by the Chinese brand Geely Automotive Group which also owns other automotive brands such as Volvo, Polestar, Zeekr, Smart, Livan and much more.The company has partnered with Exclusive Motors of New Delhi to handle sales and services. Exclusive Motors also handles sales and services for Bentley Motors in India.

The Lotus Emira will be the second product from the brand after the Eletre in India. The sportscar was globally revealed back in 2021. The Emira is a two-door, small, light-weight sportscar it’s the last pure internal combustion engine model from the brand. The car weighs in at just 1,405kg and will be bought to India via the CBU route and the prices are expected to start from Rs 2 crores (ex-showroom).

In terms of design, the Emira takes inspiration from the Evija hypercar. It gets vertical LED headlamps with a twin-blade design. It gets sharp sculpted lines all over and it also gets contoured scoops that send air to the engine. The supercar also gets aerodynamically designed 20-inch alloy wheels and Lotus also offers an optional Lotus Drivers Pack, which includes a stiffer suspension setup and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres.

The Emira gets two engine options – a 365 hp, 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder engine borrowed from Mercedes-AMG and a bigger 3.5-litre, 406hp V6 borrowed from Toyota. The Toyota-sourced powertrain is offered with a manual and automatic transmission, whereas the smaller 2.0-litre gets a DCT gearbox.

Moving inside, the car has a two-seat layout with sporty bucket seats and lots of Alcantara. It features a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, connected car tech and much more. It also gets a flat-bottom steering wheel with a floating centre console and contrast gold inserts. Other features include powered and ventilated seats, an Alcantara headliner, premium audio system by KEF.
