In Spears’ The Woman in Me, which is in stores now, the Toxic singer reveals that she had an abortion during her relationship with Timberlake.

“It was a surprise, but for me, it wasn’t a tragedy. I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated,” Spears writes of the pregnancy in an excerpt from the book obtained by PEOPLE. “But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young.”

Spears goes on to add that looking back, she doesn’t know if it was “the right decision.”

“If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it,” she writes. “And yet Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father.”

As the intimate details of their relationship made headlines, a source claimed, “Justin is not at all happy about what has come out in this book.”

The insider told the Daily Mail this week, “Justin has not reached out to Britney at all about any of this, and he is not going to because there is nothing he can say to her.”

But the source said that Spears “doesn’t care” if her words upset her one-time beau.

“Doing this book has given Britney life, and she really doesn’t care who is offended by anything in it because it is what happened. She was there and lived through it. No one can say anything. She has got this all out of her and is moving on now,” they told the outlet.

A separate source tells Entertainment Tonight that Timberlake is focused on his future and not a 20-year-old romance.

“Justin has been focusing on his own family and trying not to concern himself with Britney’s memoir,” the source says. “In recent years, Justin has tried to be supportive of Britney from a distance. They dated so long ago, but he still has respect for her. Justin and Jessica just want everyone to grow and evolve instead of continuing to bring up the past.”

The Grammy winner, 41, dated Timberlake, 42, from from 1999 to 2002. After they split, she went on to marry Kevin Federline and gave birth to two boys — Sean Preston, 18, and Jayden James, 17.

Elsewhere in the book, which is already a bestseller, Spears also claims Timberlake cheated on her with “another celebrity,” whom many fans speculated was All Saints singer Nicole Appleton.

She also writes about a transgression with dancer and choreographer Wade Robson, who filed a civil lawsuit against the Michael Jackson estate in 2013, alleging that Jackson sexually abused him from 1990 to 1997.

In the book, Spears recalls dancing and making out with Robson while she was dating Timberlake.

“We were out one night and we went to a Spanish bar. We danced and danced. I made out with him that night,” Spears writes.

The pair “agreed to move past” the indiscretion when she convinced the NSYNC star she “only had eyes for him.”

But after their breakup Timberlake released a music video for Cry Me a River that implied Spears cheated on him.

Afterwards, Spears said the video was a “great way to sell” his 2002 solo debut record, Justified.

The two later ran into one another during an appearance at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards that scarred her emotionally.

“It had been a while since I’d seen him. Everything was going great in his world. He was at the top of his game in every way, and he had a lot of swagger. I was having a panic attack. I hadn’t rehearsed enough. I hated the way I looked. I knew it was going to be bad,” Spears recalls in her memoir, according to the Daily Mail.

“It was less than a year since I’d had my second baby in two years but everyone was acting like my not having six-pack abs was offensive,” she writes. “I couldn’t believe I was going to have to go out onstage feeling the way I felt. I went out there and did the best I could at that moment in time, which — yes, granted — was far from my best at other times. I could see myself on video throughout the auditorium while I performed; it was like looking at myself in a fun-house mirror.”

In addition to reliving parts of their relationship, Spears also embarrassingly reveals how Timberlake spoke with an urban accent when he met Black musical artists.

Recounting about an encounter with Pony singer Ginuwine, she writes: “J got all excited and said, so loud, ‘Oh yeah, fo shiz, fo shiz! Ginuwiiiiiine! What’s up?’ homie?’”

Oscar winner Michelle Williams’ narration of the cringeworthy scene in the audio-book version of The Woman in Me has gone viral, no doubt adding to Timberlake’s dismay.

“Five-time academy award nominee Michelle Williams saying ‘fo-shiz fo-shiz what’s up homie!’ is art,” one fan wrote.

“Michelle Williams is going to get a Grammy for this,” another person predicted.

And it seems the confessions and the viral mocking marred Timberlake’s 11th wedding anniversary with his wife Jessica Biel this week.

“Britney’s book coming out with all the revelations coming from it has not been the best for his anniversary celebrations,” a second source told the Daily Mail.
