It has been just over a week since the new iPhone 15 Pro models arrived in the hands of users. Since then there have been more than a few complaints of the iPhone 15 Pro models heating up quite a bit. Some speculated that it is the titanium frame, which is causing the iPhones to heat up. Apple has laid that speculation to rest and confirmed that a fix is on the way for the iPhone 15 Pro models. In a statement to Forbes, Apple said that the issues have been identified and that the devices may feel warmer initially.
“We have identified a few conditions which can cause iPhone to run warmer than expected. The device may feel warmer during the first few days after setting up or restoring the device because of increased background activity,” the company said in the statement.
A software update will come soon
Apple also said that there is a bug in iOS 17 which is affecting the devices. “We have also found a bug in iOS 17 that is impacting some users and will be addressed in a software update,” the company said.
Also, there some to be some issues with third-party apps as well. “Another issue involves some recent updates to third-party apps that are causing them to overload the system. We’re working with these app developers on fixes that are in the process of rolling out,” Apple said. The apps that are reportedly causing iPhone devices to heat up are Instagram, Uber and Asphalt 9.
Furthermore, users who are charging their iPhones with a larger USB-C power adapter (20W +) should expect iPhone temperature to temporarily increase while fast charging. A user can have a higher-wattage adapter but the iPhone automatically regulates power into the device at up to 27W so long as the adapter is compliant with the USB-C PD (Power Delivery) standard. The temperature might temporarily increase but doesn’t have an impact on the long term performance of iPhone.
The new iPhone 15 Pro models come with an all-new titanium body and there was talk about the new material causing devices to heat. However, on the contrary, Apple says that the new design is better for heat dissipation than the previous-generation iPhone models.
It is not clear when the software update will arrive. However, given the complaints from several users from across the world, expect it to arrive sooner rather than later.
