Glastonbury ticket sale delayed by two weeks after registrations expire for Worthy Farm festival

The highly anticipated Glastonbury ticket sale has been delayed by two weeks after some customers hoping to get their hands on tickets discovered that their registrations had expired.

Some discovered that their profiles had been deleted last month but organisers said there were those unaware of the issue.

Glastonbury Festival requires ticket hopefuls to register for an account with an ID in advance to prevent touts.

Tickets for next year’s festival at Worthy Farm were due to go on sale at 6pm on November 2 but organisers announced the delay just four hours before.

Tickets for the festival with coach travel will instead go on sale at 6pm on Thursday, November 16, with the general admission sale beginning at 9am on Sunday, November 19.

Customers had been alerted by email that registrations created before 2020 would be deleted on October 2, with the chance to re-register before the October 30 deadline.

However, some people had only discovered the deadline after they were no longer registered.

Organisers said that sales were therefore being delayed “out of fairness” to those affected.

The registration window will reopen at 12pm on Monday, November 6, and close at 5pm the same day.

2024 tickets for the festival cost £355 plus a £5 booking fee, up £20 from £335 for this year’s event.

In a tweet, organisers said: “This year’s Glastonbury ticket sale has been moved back by two weeks. This is to ensure that everyone who would like to buy a ticket is registered and therefore eligible to purchase one. 

“Following this year’s festival, we alerted everyone with a registration which pre-dated 2020 of a scheduled review of the details held by See Tickets in the Glastonbury Festival registration database. 

“This was in order to ensure that the details we hold are current and that we do not store individuals’ information for any longer than is necessary. 

“These registrants were asked to take action to confirm their registration if they wished to keep it. 

“As always, registration was then closed on Monday (October 30) ahead of the ticket sale. 

“Unfortunately, it has come to light that some individuals hoping to buy tickets for 2024 have discovered after Monday’s registration deadline that they are no longer registered, despite believing they were. 

“Out of fairness to those individuals, we will be re-opening the window for registration at 12 noon on Monday, November 6. 

“It will remain open until 5pm on Monday, November 6.

“We apologise for the late change to the ticket sale dates, but we want to ensure that everyone who would like to buy a ticket for next year’s Festival is able to confirm their registration ahead of the sale.”

The world-famous event will take place at Worthy Farm in Somerset from June 26 until June 30, 2024, with the line-up yet to be confirmed.
