Ambient lighting or mood lighting work to uplift your mood inside the cabin of your car. While a majority of affordable cars still offer a single colour option for the ambient lights, some manufacturers have one upped by offering multi-coloured ambient lights that go up to 64 colours. The ambient lighting strip is usually seen placed on the dashboard of the car, or on the doors. On the other hand, mood lighting lights up the footwell area, while is also placed somewhere on the doors.

1. Hyundai Verna
The Hyundai Verna offers 64-colour ambient lighting, making it the most affordable car in India to be offered with this feature. Hyundai offers ambient lighting with the SX variant of the sedan and above, with prices starting from Rs 10.96 lakh (ex-showroom). It also gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a similarly sized digital driver’s display, an 8-speaker Bose sound system, switchable controls for infotainment and AC, electric sunroof, an air purifier and ventilated and heated front seats.
2. Kia Seltos
Facelifted a few months back, the Kia Seltos is one of the most feature-rich mid-size SUVs in the Indian market. The Kia car also gets a 64-colour ambient lighting option, available from HTX variant onwards, which is currently priced at Rs 15.2 lakh (ex-showroom). Other features on offer with the Seltos include dual 10.25-inch displays, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, air purifier, heads-up display and ventilated front seats.
3. Kia Carens
Another Kia car that is offered with multi-colour ambient lighting is the Carens MPV. The Seltos’ sibling offers 64-colour ambient lighting on the range-topping Luxury trim which has a starting price of Rs 16.35 lakh (ex-showroom). The Carens also gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a semi-digital instrument cluster, cruise control, electric one-touch folding second-row seats, ventilated front seats and a single-pane sunroof.
4. MG Hector
Unlike the cars mentioned so far in this list with 64-colour ambient lights, the MG Hector gets an eight-colour ambient lighting setup inside the cabin, which will lighten up your Diwali celebrations nonetheless. The feature is available from Sharp Pro variant onwards, with prices starting from Rs 19.45 lakh (ex-showroom). The MG Hector’s equipment list also consists of a vertically-stacked 14-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digital driver’s display, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof and a powered driver’s seat.

5. Tata Harrier
The newly launched Tata Harrier facelift gets ambient lighting not only on the dashboard, but also around the large panoramic sunroof! The 64-colour ambient lighting is available from Adventure trim onwards. Pricing starts from Rs 20.19 lakh (ex-showroom). It also comes with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.25-inch fully digital driver’s display, a 10-speaker JBL sound system, dual-zone automatic AC, ventilated front seats, 6-way power driver’s seat, 4-way powered co-driver’s seat, wireless phone charging, a panoramic sunroof, a gesture-enabled powered tailgate, and an air purifier.
