The people injured in the fire were taken to nearby hospitals. Fire Department Deputy Director Gulshan Kalra said the incident took place at around 8:30 PM near the Jharsa flyover on the main carriageway from Delhi to Jaipur. “Three fire tenders were rushed to the spot after we received information that a sleeper bus had caught fire on the carriageway,” said Kalra.
He revealed that by the time fire was brought under control, two people were charred to death while other received burn injuries. The exact reason for the bus fire is yet unknown. In the event of a vehicle fire, one should immediately stop the vehicle and turn off the ignition. If possible, it is advised to park on the left side of the road. Turning off the engine can help cut off fuel supply and risk of further fire spread.
Then you should immediately evacuate the car. Elderly and young children should be helped getting out rather than focusing on other ‘valuable’ items like your phone or wallet. One should immediately move at a safe distance from the vehicle. Instead of trying to douse the fire, you should immediately call a fire brigade and also inform the insurance company about the incident.
