Highest paid F1 drivers in 2023: Here’s how much Verstappen, Hamilton earn

Formula 1 is known as the pinnacle of motorsports, and the single-seat car racing sport has amassed a great following across the globe in recent years. It is also no secret that F1 drivers have some of the highest salaries in any motorsport. While all drivers on the grid probably earn well enough to keep supporting their lavish lifestyles, a few exceptional ones take home exorbitant paychecks!
Check out this list of the top 10 highest earning Formula 1 drivers in 2023 –

  • Max Verstappen (Red Bull) – $55m
  • Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) – $35m
  • Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) – $24m
  • Lando Norris (McLaren) – $20m
  • Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) – $20m
  • Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) – $12m
  • Sergio Perez (Red Bull) – $10m
  • Valtteri Bottas (Alfa Romeo) – $10m
  • George Russell (Mercedes) – $8m
  • Esteban Ocon (Alpine) – $6m

Do note that the figures represent their salaries from their respective teams in F1 only, while their total earnings also include sponsorship deals and other sources as well. Max Verstappen is currently the highest earner in F1, and rightfully so. As a part of his contract, the Dutch driver is paid a $55m salary per season, which converts to a whopping Rs 458 crore (approx.) in Indian currency!

Seven-time World Champion sits on second with a salary of $35m (INR 291 crore) at Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc is the third highest paid driver, earning $24m (INR 200 crore) per season from his employer i.e. Scuderia Ferrari. Lando Norris and Fernando Alonso have a salary of $20m (INR 166 crore) at McLaren and Aston Martin respectively.
