2023 Hyundai i20 N-line vs Mahindra XUV 300 Turbosport: Power, features, specs compared

Hyundai Motor India recently launched the Hyundai i20 N-line facelift to the Indian market. The new i20 N-line gets minor cosmetic changes, a new manual gearbox and additional features. In this article let’s compare the i20 N-line with the Mahindra XUV 300 Turbosport. Do note that both cars do not come under the same segment, the i20 N-Line comes under the premium hatchback segment whereas the XUV 300 Turbosport comes under the sub-compact SUV segment.

First let’s compare prices, the price for the hatch starts from Rs 9.99 lakh and goes up to Rs 12.31 lakh (both prices Ex-showroom). The prices for the XUV 300 Turbosport start from Rs 9.13 lakh and go up to 13.16 lakh (both prices Ex-showroom). The i20 N-line is offered in two variants – N6 and N8. The 300 Turbosport is offered in four variants – W4, W6, W8 and W8 (O).
Comparing the dimensions, the i20 N-line measures 3995mm in length, 1,755mm in width, and 1505mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2580mm. The XUV 300 Turbosport measures 3995mm in length, 1821mm in width, 1,627mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,600mm.

In terms of design, the i20 N-line features a sporty front bumper with a parametric grille design. It also features a front splitter with red accents and newly designed 16-inch alloy wheels with red brake callipers. At the rear, it gets Z-shaped taillamps with a rear diffuser along with dual exhaust tips.

The XUV 300 Turbosport features a new gloss black grille with red accents and the elements on the central air intake on the front bumper have been finished in red which accentuates the sporty appearance. It also gets a silver skid plate and blacked-out wing mirrors.

Moving on to the interior, the i20 N-line gets all-black interiors with subtle red accents and N-line badging on the seats and steering wheel. The N-line also gets red ambient lighting, leather leather-wrapped steering wheel and a metal finish on the pedals. Features include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, digital instrument cluster, OTA updates, connected car tech, wireless phone charging, cruise control, automatic climate control, a single-pane sunroof, 7-speaker Bose sound system, automatic headlights and much more.

Talking about the XUV 300 Turbosport, the SUV features a black interior with silver accents on the dashboard, centre console and steering wheel. It also gets chrome-finished pedals. Features include a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, dual-zone climate control, automatic headlamps and wipers, leather upholstery, semi-digital cluster, single pane sunroof and more.

Talking about the powertrain, both cars are offered with a single-engine option. The i20 N-line gets a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine which puts out 120 hp of power and 172 Nm of torque. The engine comes paired either with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.

The XUV 300 Turbosport gets a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine which puts out 130 PS of power and 230 Nm of torque. Gearbox options include only a 6-speed manual gearbox.
